As you are all well aware hurricane Maria decimated Puerto Rico and the Island Chain’s west of PR. I have friends effected by the hurricane and we have TRAF Members there. It is a grave situation, no power, no running water, no cell service or internet. 2 Weeks after this ordeal and people are still struggling to cope.
AT&T is working to put up temporary mobile cell sites and any existing cell towers that are operational but powerless will be put on generators to assist with communications. For now, only satellite phones work and not many people have those. Being an island they are limited on supplies, airports are shut down; some damaged others operational but w/o staffing for security screening no outbound flights carrying citizens are departing. Only personnel with clearance are permitted to fly. Gas is rare and people are struggling in the hot humid climate, its rainy and damaged home now leak. I am sure sanitation is also sub-par and potentially dangerous. Initial reports are about 4 months till they can fully restore power to the island of PR and who know about the many many small islands in the chain.
If you are able to contact a loved one in the region tell them to tell their friends and families to restart their cell phone to enable them to communicate with the new cell towers being erected.
If you pray, then pray to whatever higher power you believe in, if you’re not into prayers then wish them good luck, they will need everything they can.
