Creating the platoon
In game text commands can be found
In TeamSpeak3, right click on yourself -> Channel Commander
In TeamSpeak3, right click on yourself -> Set Server Group -> Platoon Commander
Verify each squad has a squad leader who is Channel Commander, and a member in AIRCON (if AIRCON is active.)
Test your hotkey and whisper list to verify your communications to and from the squads via Channel Commander .
- "1st to all squads, testing comms, how copy?"
Make sure each squad leader responds to your request.
Dealing with multiple platoons
Test your hotkey and whisper list to verify your communications to and from other platoons via Platoon Commander
Work with the other platoon commander when selecting objectives, requesting reinforcements, coordinating battalion-wide assaults, etc.
Create an overarching goal for your platoon
Will this be an offensive push that attempts to neutralize/cap a continent, or a defensive stand to prevent such attempts by enemy factions?
Find the key major facilities (amp station, tech plant, bio lab) necessary to support your endeavor, and plan how to best assault/defend those areas
Communicate your plan with your squad leaders, and update them when your plan changes.
Target selection and prioritization
When assaulting minor facilities, spread your squads thin (1-2 squads per point) to push the line quicker.
When assaulting major facilities, make sure squads are communicating amongst themselves in order to cap efficiently.
It is a good idea to prep a major facility for capture while capping surrounding territory for influence.
It is most effective to keep your squads in close proximity to each other
Map controls and communications
When giving squads orders, have your map open and "Set Platoon Waypoint" on each objective
Keep an eye out for back caps, and never hesitate to re-task a squad to stop the cap if the territory is crucial to the operation.
Communicating with squad leaders
If you are unsure about the situation at a particular point, ask the squad leader for a SitRep.
If your next objective for a squad crosses difficult terrain or is a great distance away from their current location, advise them and ask about their mobility ahead of time.
- "1st to Bravo, do you still have your Galaxy?"
- "2nd to Golf, next objective is Splitpeak Pass, advise pill drop."
Consider all requests from squad leaders - they are on the lines, not you.
Communicating with other outfits and the masses
Using /orders will communicate with all TR forces on the continent you are on.
/orders TRAF respectfully requests all available TR forces focus on NC territories to help neutralize the continent
Using /leader will communicate with all squad leaders, everywhere.
Give updates when moving towards major facilities.
/leader TRAF first platoon pushing east towards Sungrey Amp (Amerish)
RESPECTFULLY request assistance when needed.
/leader TRAF respectfully requests assistance at Hvar Tech (Indar)
Consider requests from others, inform when possible.
/leader TRAF sending two squads to assist at Ymir Bio
Shit will go wrong
Recognize and accept that it is happening - maintain composure, your squads will help you get out of the deep.
Re-assess and decide whether to reorganize or redirect.
Can you re-gain momentum by yielding a few hexes and pushing back out in a uniform manner?
Should you pick a different direction for your platoon, or even a different continent?
Make a decision and stand by it.
If you see your plan is not going to work, get your squad(s) off point to keep them from losing morale.
You will make bad calls - learn from them.
